Giveaway & Interview: Chris Stevenson, Author of The Girl They Sold to the Moon

Please give a warm welcome to author Chris Stevenson! He’s here to share a bit about his book The Girl They Sold to the Moon, as well as a bit about himself. Scroll to the bottom for the giveaway info.

If you owned a bookstore, what would you name it?

If I owned a bookstore, I would name it The Book Dump. I think that bit of humor would make it memorable.

If you could have a signed copy of any novel what would it be and why?

I would loved a signed copy of Virgin Planet by Poul Anderson, because he was my true mentor via the Science Fiction Writers of America. I would not have become a writer without his inspiration.

What would you ask a hyper-advanced society?

I would ask a hyper-advanced society the secret to antigravity. Or antigravitics.

If you could, what book or movie or TV series would you like to experience for the first time all over again and why?

I would love read and see The Hunger Games all over again. It impacted me deeply.

What future invention would you like to see not only created during your life time, but readily available to the public?

Again, it would be the invention of anti-gravity so we could do away with fossil fuels. We need to clean up the atmosphere.

Millions of generations into the future, you are an alien archaeologist come to Earth to sift through the ancient remains of humanity. What is the oddest thing you find?

Since gold is likely to last that long, I would say finding gold teeth would be surprising.

What has been your worst or most difficult job? How does it compare to writing?

My most difficult job was as a Master mechanic working for Toyota. The tasks were not that very hard, but working in the sweltering 100-degree plus heat was very life-threatening.

You are stuck in space in dire straights. Which science fiction authors would you want with you?

Since he has written hundreds of books, both fiction and non-fiction and has science degrees, I would pick Isaac Asimov. I think he would be the smartest one out of the bunch.

What is a recurring or the most memorable geeky argument or debate you have taken part in?

When I was a writing coach, I suggested to a student that they do not need armor-piercing bullets to kill a cougar. They insisted they did. Of course, they were wrong but quit my group soon after.

Finally, what upcoming events and works would you like to share with the readers?

My book The Girl They Sold to the Moon is currently for sale at the major e-retailers, and I’m proud to announce my YA fantasy series, Screamcatcher: Web World is coming out soon. I hope that my new website draws attention—Christy’s Young Adult Fabuliers.

Book Blurb for The Girl They Sold to the Moon

Eighteen-year-old Tilly Breedlove’s father has sold her into a form of modern day slavery on Luna – the Tranquility Harbor Mining Company, 240,000 miles from home. Family Trade and Loan, an unscrupulous company, is more than willing to take her on and exploit her talent. Forced to be an exotic dancer, she performs risqué shows for the filthy but filthy rich ore miners – a far cry from her classical and modern dance training. If she isn’t resisting obscene advances from bearded “Prairie Dogs,” she’s fending off jealous head-liner acts who view her as a threat to their status – and when those jealous showgirls say “break a leg,” they aim to cause it. The only reprieve she finds in this shop of horrors is a few close ward friends, a sympathetic dance coach, and Buddy Gunner Bell who just might become the love of her life. It’s just enough to stem her psychological meltdown.
