More Fun As A Wife Than As A Widow

Volunteer Fire Fighter Memorial

Tonight marks 7 months since Bill passed. It’s been a brutal time. He is much missed. There have been 5 memorials, the last of which was held on Halloween. Each has been quite different from the rest and each has helped me pull myself together a little more.

And some days, it’s been just the basics – feed myself, feed the pets, ignore the world.

But other days I have made progress in developing a life without my husband. I haven’t been single since I was 19. We had been together for nearly 25 years (married nearly 21). People have been very generous with their time, their physical labor, and their company. And I find that being grateful for things is a much needed welcome distraction from my grief.

As for this blog, I plan to get back to book blogging and reviewing despite my recent lengthy (and very understandable) reading slump. Bill’s loss is felt in every corner of my life. But his love is also there. It was indeed more fun to be Bill’s wife than his widow.
